Landis man found bleeding in drive

LANDIS — Emergency officials airlifted an 88-year-old man to Carolinas Medical Center on Monday after a neighbor found him bleeding in his driveway.

The man was bleeding from his head and had severe trauma, Fire Chief Reed Linn said.

The man, whose name was not immediately available, appeared to have been doing yard work at his home at the corner of South Meriah and West Ridge streets sometime after 5 p.m., Linn said.

Firefighters and first responders controlled the bleeding until EMS arrived. A helicopter landed on the football field of nearby Corriher-Lipe Middle School.

No other information was available late Monday.
