Horizons Unlimited Supplementary Education Center will celebrate its 40th birthday Nov. 17 with a holiday laser light show and activities.

Horizons draws financial support from the Rowan and Davie boards of commissioners, Salisbury City Council, local foundations and donors.
The birthday celebration will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free to the public.
Activities include: Laser light show in Margaret C. Woodson planetarium; scavenger hunt through decorated state-themed trees in the exhibit hall; pictures, articles and memorabilia showing 40 years of growth; hands-on activities about space; native American exhibits; Aubrey Atkinson prints of historic places; rainforest and aviary; 1842 one-room Setzer School; environmental activities.
