Kepley Construction has received a $112,035 contract for renovations at the Salisbury Sports Complex off South Boundary Street.

The work will include grading, storm drainage and demolition.

Other bidders were Culp Brothers, $145,607; and Lynn-Thomas Grading, $193,975.

The city of Salisbury's Parks and Recreation Department will be converting three softball fields at the sports complex into two fields with a new alignment.

Other improvements will include new lighting, an irrigation system, a bridge, two half-court basketball courts, a paved walking trail, fencing and horseshoe pits.

Renovations in this phase will total $500,000. Salisbury City Council approved the contract with Kepley on Tuesday.

Council also approved the purchase of 118 desktop computers from Fortress Systems International for $117,158.

Other bidders were Hewlett Packard, $168,725; and Gateway, $199,579.

A third of the city's computers are replaced every three years. Fortress Systems International has been the low bidder on computer replacements for the past seven years.

Purchasing Manager Dewey Peck said Fortress has "an excellent record of service after the sale during this period."
