Medusa winners
Daryll Moose of West Rowan High School had a perfect score of 50 on this year's Medusa Mythology Examination.
Moose received a Gold Medusa medal and is now eligible to compete for the Minerva $750 scholarship.
He was one of six West Rowan Latin students who competed last month in the Medusa Mythology Exam which is comprised of 50 Greco-Roman mythology questions. Overall, 6,000 students in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Italytook the test this year.
The overall average score this year was 26 out of 50 questions, or 52 percent. Students scoring the top 2 percent range received a Gold Medusa Medal. Those scoring in the top 3-5 percentile received a Silver Medusa Medal, and those in the top 6 -10 percentile received a Bronze Medusa Medal. Students in the top 25th percentile range received a certificate of recognition.
West Rowan's Jared Neal had a score of 47 and also received a Gold Medusa medal. Sam Daniel received a Silver Medusa medal in the 9th and 10th grade level with a score of 42 out of 50. Josh Pond was awarded a Bronze Medusa medal in the 11th-12th grade category with a score of 42.

This was the first year the West Rowan Latin Club and JCL students competed on the exam.
