Police searching for man who stabbed teenager Sunday night

By Shavonne Potts

Salisbury Post

Salisbury police are looking for a man who stabbed a Salisbury teen a few miles from his house.

Charles Bush, 16, of Statesville Boulevard, was waiting for a cab at Food Lion at 525 W. Jake Alexander Boulevard early Sunday when he was approached by a man asking for money.

The teen told the man all he had was going toward cab fare. Police reports said Bush told the man that if he could give him a ride home, he could give him money.

Bush got into the man's small white pickup. The man soon said something was wrong with his truck. They pulled into the Food Lion parking lot at 2104 Statesville Blvd.

Bush told police as he held a flashlight for the man, the man attacked him.

They scuffled and Bush was stabbed, though he told police he didn't know it at the time. The incident occurred at 12:45 a.m.

The man's girlfriend was in the truck, but Bush said she apparently couldn't see anything because the hood was blocking her view.

Bush ran home and realized he'd been stabbed in the shoulder and buttocks. His mother took him to Rowan Regional Medical Center where he received stitches in the shoulder and rear end.

The man was wearing a white-and-gray T-shirt and green Army fatigues. He was driving a small white pickup. He was last seen on Jake Alexander Boulevard toward Clancy Street.
