Man in country illegally charged with statutory rape

By Shavonne Potts

Salisbury Post

A man authorities say is in this country illegally was charged this week with the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Osman Renierly Guiterrez Arriola, 21, of 427 N. Yadkin Ave., Spencer, had a baby with the teen, who is now 16, said Rowan County Sheriff's Capt. John Sifford.

The relationship between the two took place sometime in 2006, when Arriola was 20, Sifford said.

The girl went to apply for government assistance and the Department of Social Services became involved. Law enforcement was then notified, Sifford said.

He said Arriola had been deported and came back to the United States. Department reports said Arriola's birth place is Honduras.

No other information was available Wednesday as to how or when Arriola arrived in North Carolina.

Arriola was charged with statutory rape/sex offense and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

He was placed under a $55,000 secured bond in the Rowan County Detention Center and under a detainer by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, who are also investigating.

An officer at the Detention Center said Arriola was not in the jail's computer system Wednesday night.
