Handbell workshop next Wednesday features Robert Ivey at 1st Presbyterian

The music departments of First Presbyterian Church and Bethpage United Methodist Church are co-sponsoring a workshop for handbell ringers next Wednesday, Jan. 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church.

The guest instructor will be Robert Ivey, formerly minister of music at First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.

This workshop is an excellent opportunity for those interested in becoming involved with handbells. There will be two sessions: one for beginners at 6:30 p.m.,and the second for more experienced ringers at 7:40 p.m.

Ivey is a past president of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and served on its board of directors for 12 years. He has taught handbell ringing at Westminster Choir College and Queens College and at music conferences at Lake Junaluska and Montreat. In addition, Ivey has published several books on handbell ringing.
